I spent most of my childhood in a tiny, backward community in Davidson
County, Tennessee, but was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1970. My loving
father, though no longer with us, remains a powerful inspiration in my
life. He was not a young man by any standards (born 1908), but he instilled
in me many values now seemingly forgotten. (November, 1997)
