September 2001: I was Born in Sussex, England
around forty years ago. Nothing much happened
there. I went to Portsmouth University and got a B.A.
with Honors in a hotch-potch of various subjects called
Cultural Studies. It didn't qualify me for a job, and
somehow or another I found myself on a Psychiatric
Nursing course where I qualified in 1990. After
pitching around doing that and other stuff -- including
a period spent as depressed as any of the patients I'd
worked with -- I ended up working with people with
learning disabilities, which is what I do now. I came out
as gay when I was twenty-seven, and though I feel I'm
pretty straight-acting -- whatever that means -- I was
surprised (or not!?) when most of my family had
realised it already. I've got two brothers and two sisters
and six nephews and nieces whom I love to bits, etc. I
enjoy going out, clubbing, bars, cinema, history,
literature inc., and, of course, poetry.
