September 2002: I was born in 1937 and reared in
Boone, Iowa. I taught in middle schools in Quincey and
Bronson, Missouri. In those schools I taught writing for
well over thirty years. I was a member of the first Southeast
Iowa Writing Project At Iwoa University. I don't know
exactly when I started "creative writing"
myself, but it seems to me that it was before I mastered
cursive script. My work appeared in my highschool
newspaper and in the yearbook. I've "played with"
poetry and fiction and feature writing every since. I have
always shared my work with my students as I asked them
to share theirs with me. I have done a little feature and
editorial work in the newsletters for a couple of amateur
radio clubs as well.
