December 2003: Herbert Woodward Martin is poet-in-residence at The
University of Dayton. He has edited two books of Paul Laurence
Dunbar's the native Dayton poet: In His Own Voice: The Uncollected
Works of Paul Laurence Dunbar (Penguin Classics), and Selected
Poems of Paul Laurence Dunbar. He is the author of six volumes of his
own poetry and the winner of The Mellen Poetry Prize in 1999. He also
won in that same year The Piccadilly Poetry Prize for a London, England
Debut. He is the recipient of two honorary degrees for his work on
Dunbar.
