As Much Power As
Who You Are Can Bring You

A Virtual Chapbook of Poetry

Edward Jason Maxwell

Rude Boy

Wade would sometimes let the fat girl lay on his back
He said it was therapeutic
I just thought it damn funny
And the girl would lay like a struck down Moose
"Jiggle your left hemisphere," he told her
"Now your forward aft"
"What is aft?" she frowned
Afterward we would have a good laugh
And he would seem to be standing more erect
Maybe it did help his back
"I hope Rude Boy will have a job for us this weekend
I will be able to drive that limo from here to New York now
My back feels great"
We always got a kick out of how funny the world was
And found it strange that nobody else would laugh with us
