Yellow in Villanelle
You are a genius with liquid medicine,
As you form pigments unmistaken, white of dove and yellow
While I, blood red this hour, fall deep and rise shallow
You interlace and interlock a patent period of time
And each cell you fabricate for her becomes mine, if to say
You are a genius with liquid medicine
All colours formed prohibit my shadow on your walls
Yet I pace, approve, and stroke the fashion till hours fall hollow
And I, blood red this hour, fall deep and rise shallow
To each open door I reach, leads only to more passages
And internal evacuations, so I cannot run away, only to say
You are a genius with liquid medicine
Every window, wall and panel is sincerely different
Not unlike the chambers of your heart that throbs yellow,
While I, blood red this hour, fall deep and rise shallow
You are a simple yet neglectful painter, a decorator of hearts
Arranging multiple colours of a meadow
You are a genius with liquid medicine,
While I, blood red this hour, fall deep and rise shallow
