A Catastrophic Day in American History

The eleventh day of September,
A day I will always remember.
Many families and lives were shattered,
The world stopped turning and nothing else mattered.

I was teaching my first year of school,
The fall day was just a bit cool.
Who knew that this beautiful day
Would end up in such a disastrous way?

This attack has affected our lives,
Many have lost their husbands and wives.
I am in tears for all of the people
Who are now so weak and so feeble.

From the skyline erased are those Towers,
Whose structure symbolized power.
All that's left is what's called Ground Zero,
And many a number that are declared heroes.

One can't help but kneel and pray
  For those we lost that day.
  With those people gone in our mind,
  Serenity we shall find.

Who knew that this beautiful day Would end up in such a disastrous way?
