Poem, Story, Remembrance. Leola Claiborne Carhee |
Dignified Woman
(Dedicated to the Boni Mi Club)
I am a dignified woman with
A signified pose, I weep not
I will stare a man down and
Dare him to doze
He sleeps not
It's no harm to be a fashion plate
Inside your home and outside
Your gate
Wear your frocks with style
And grace,
Seek attention and hide not
Your face.
Be a woman, significant from
Head to toe,
And never fear, with dignity
Rock to and fro.
Be a woman of strength,
But still appeal
To all the universe without
Cutting a deal.
Be strong in faith and zeal.
Always remember, never to yield.
You are a lady with
A sweet sweet taste,
Never forgetting you are an Ace.
One two, shine my shoe
Three four, let him open the door.
Five six, he will pick
Up the sticks
Seven eight he'll open the gate.
Nine ten, always try it again.
I'm a lady who requires space
To click my heels and square
Off for the race.
I wear my house dress as well
As my evening attire gracefully
And dignified.
Beauty is not just skin deep
My inner stuff that makes a man
Want to peep into the soul of a
Woman that smiles and makes
Diamonds fall from the sky.
Accept compliments from all
When given and proclaim
I'm a woman -- a dignified woman
With significant taste.
