(Dedicated to Ms. Mary L. Gamble)
(In memory of my aunt, Cora Towner)
Although silence casts shadows in darkness
There is no child of her own in sight,
Still her face is a shining beauty and she
Wherever she goes spreads light.
Her gift from
God, wherefore she treads is
Her natural love for children.
She never spoke a word to me
She really did not have to
She gave all signs of love to me
And that I knew and rushed to
In the twilight zone or at the setting of the sun,
We know her and remember her sighing,
"I love you."
