Seeking Awen, seeking grace
Imbas swirling, palms to face
Offerings of half-chewed meat
I'm calling.
This time, First time
There will be more
The hidden door
My secret whore
Who's voice drifts from the distant shore
And chills me
But I'm calling.
Just a feeling, just a thought
See past the makeup
To the rot
It's just the way to dig the plot
And bury what is dying.
Peel an onion, cook a dish
If things aren't quite the way you wish
The light is liquid
Swim you fish
And catch me laughing
While I'm crying!
The Raven Sign
A Raven came to call today
He looked at me and laughed.
As if somehow He could see right through
To the frailties of my past.
But when I smiled He turned away
Which turned my mood to gray
I sensed He was a carrier of what he had to say
And he was here to make me hear what could be heard today.
He looked at me and squawked
As he rustled in the tree
I looked at him as if to say,
"What did you say to me?"
He looked at me and squawked again
As he spread his wings and flew
I knew something soon would happen
Something new!
Maddie
I spat in the wind and my face was a mess
I wiped it off on a little girl's dress
She cared not at all as she gave me a kiss
And she said that I was her Grandpa.
She pushed me down as she licked my beard
And I was thinking it all was a little weird
When I learned that the act was completely cleared
Because I was her Grandpa.
We ran in the yard and we played with a toad
I called it a frog but what do I know?
With a coffee can she made a Magic show
And I am her Grandpa.
She drew me a picture and told me a tale
She became a horse with a long brown tail
I got all her pictures in the mail
Because I am her Grandpa.
She has long wavy hair and a cute little face
I can see God gave her ample grace
And I know I will never loose my place
Because I am her Grandpa.
Poetic Influence
I am a Magician, I find.
I'll admit
I can't change your mind but you'll be
Influenced.
Though I can't make you read
Some of you will
And the spell lies within the words.
Influenced.
Something like this
There's a saying that goes,
"You can lead a horse to sugar,
But you can't make him sweet!"
Just influenced!
