Ash

As the cigarette burned
The smoke lingered around your fingers
Weaving around your hand
Engulfing you with a thick smoke
Encircling like a divine cloud
Protecting you from anything that ever was
Providing for you everything you ever desired
Helping you to become what you aspired
And when you thought you were ready to leave
The smoke cleared
And instantly you were struck by fear
Wanting something you took for granted
Longing for it to come back
The thick smoke,
A place where it's safe to stay
The thick smoke,
A place where it's safe to play
