Because you are here
A morning dove sang sweeter
To his distant beloved
While perched on an apple tree in the mountains of Sicily
Because you are here
The coral green and azure blue
Danced in deeper joy as waves of foam landed
On empty beaches in the Pacific
Because you are here
An unkindled charcoal comet
Was not deflected from its astral sleep
As it passed near Pluto
Because you are here
The four eyes that stared and glared
And thought to reach for blade and blood
Let that book of history stay closed
Because you are here
Someone found their way home again
That had traveled in diverse directions
And chose the correct path at the fork in the road
Because you are here
I know that tomorrow will be filled with breath,
Eyesight, smiles and sighs. Yet the sun
Will take its place at the center of the stage
Because you are here I need not worry about
The commitments that words bring nor be concerned
That the ink will reverse time and leap
From the paper back into the pen
You and I are here
Riding high above such matters
We are together
Like a strong memory in the mind
Like a deep current in the heart
Far away from the mistakes we make
By trying to judge the decisions
These poems come from my own skill in surviving
some of life's most difficult challenges. If I write, at
least I have communicated on my own behalf what my
end of this reality looks like. What else can I do?
