A Bloody Good Book

tidy the garden
vacuum the car
fix the fence
make no recompense
close the cupboards
wash the floor
settle the bills
close the door
put the cat out
clean the toilet
light a real fire
to pervade throughout
uncork the wine
sever the cheese
rest the book on your knees
like a fantastic treasure
secretly found
a binding aroma, leather bound
reassuringly silent in your hand
so read on! read on!
don't be disconcerted
an alternative silence?
explanation not necessary
happily averted, without licence
flick the pages
savor the smell
drink from these sages
like a bottomless well
it's your time, free time
relax, put your feet up
you never know what you'll find
when you open your mind
breath in the air, capture the silence
sound not necessary here
thought is all
free from influence
solitary, majestic
divested of self
