Green

green --
be the color of peace, not my anger.
shame was never stranger
than when it wed to love,
and I loved these things:
cyprus and cedar,
summer days on the dales
curling photos in your journal
and moss on the ruins
of cathedrals we crawled through;
these thoughts shiver
in my memory
like leaves green side down
warning us the storm will come.
these thoughts hide me
like the leaves of this
old oak I've climbed
and now sit pining in.
longing and hiding
will always bring to mind your smile,
your bright green and shining eyes,
your invitations, your turning away,
your trust, your fear,
your love, your shame --
mine forever.
you're to blame.

I have not written in a long time and would appreciate the feedback
(lk@thewritgallery.com).
I know it's abstract. I couldn't seem to make it very concrete.
I don't know if it works, on any level.
