Memories Of Childhood

Memories of days gone by,
How green the grass,
How blue the sky,
How quick they pass,
I wonder why?
Memories of childhood dreams,
Paddling in babbling streams,
Shouting, laughing, running round,
Happiness evoked by sound.
Memories of carefree days,
Of playing games,
The latest craze,
Doing what Mother says.
Memories come back to me,
Of long ago, when I was free,
A sight, a sound, will make me think,
My memories a powerful link.
Now hazy memories linger on,
In the recess of my mind,
Of carefree days now long gone,
Of my childhood left behind.

I wrote "Memories of Childhood" just by thinking back to my happy
childhood, and remembering times gone by. I keep a note book and pen by my
bed, because verses tend to just arrive in my head, very often as I am
trying to go to sleep, and I feel compelled to write them down! There is
another note book in my handbag, also filled with my scribblings!
