An Ode to the Color Green

You surround me as I melt into nature
Life springs forward from a bright green place.
A bitter-sweet smell fills the air
As slender blades of delicate grass
Are sliced from their stems.
Small ugly buds form and take life
Into vibrant green figures.
You engulf me as I step into my haven.
Your energy greets me in the morning
And parts with me at night.
My eyes close with your vibrance
Still shining in them.
You bring brilliant life in spring
And sadly go in fall.
You are life in its most beautiful form
The brown trees, purple flowers, and blue water
All envy your ripe pigment.
