Why do you still cry
Though you dwell in the arms of deliverance?
Why the sadness in your eyes
When all around you, there is peace?

Although the reality of struggle is long gone,
In the middle of the darkest night
I am bathed in cold sweat
As nightmares come back to haunt me.

I assure you, the night has gone
It's a new day of bright hopes.
But what will it take
To bring happiness to your face?

If the scars chiseled into my heart
Would melt away in the warmth of the new day.
And if the memories were gone forever
My soul would soar again.

Your knuckles have been whitened
From the clenched fists of bitterness.
Forgetting the past is not easy
But releasing the grip is the first step.
I will walk with you
Up the stony path of healing.
I am convinced without a doubt
Your soul will soar again!

This Is Not A Box


There are four sides
And a top and a bottom
To a box.

But this is not a box
This is the world.

The world is still a big place
In spite of jet engines and cyberspace.

So why do you confine your mind
To square thinking.

In a circle
There are 360 degrees
That surround you.

But this is not a circle
This is life.

In the journey of life
You never pass the same place, twice.

So why do you describe your life
As going around in circles.
Stop!

Enjoy your life.

Nonchalant Children


Heaven and hell
Have all but disappeared,
In a cloud of symbols.
Truth, hope and love,
Have been reduced
Into sweet sounding nothingness.
Is conviction bigotry
And is religion a ritual?
Faith is now subjective.
We are neither hot nor cold.
We are the nonchalant children

Money has blinded me


Money has Blinded Me

I look at you and try to size up your worth
The labels on the clothes you wear
The make and model of the car you drive
I no longer see who you really are
Money has blinded me.

Where you live and where you shop
Are the topics of our conversation.
But who you really are,
Under the facade of the modern man
That I'm not interested in.
Money has blinded me.

I don't wonder about your soul
Nor am I Interested in your true concerns.
A Meaningful conversation
Makes me uncomfortable.
In fact I'd rather watch the soaps
Or contemplate my stocks and shares.
Money has blinded me.

I consider myself civilized
I have the manners of a gentleman
I can grin from ear to ear
But murder you with my eyes
Please don't take it personally.
Its just that

Money has blinded me.

Steady As The Stream


You and I
We are steady
as the stream flowing by.

We're are not still as a pond
That lays still on a languid summer day.

We are not the rapids
Whose waters are fast currents.
These water are treacherous
over broken ground.

We are steady as the stream
Whose currents flow gently.

We flow over a bedrock
That is even and unbroken
A Bedrock that gives direction
and momentum.

We are the stream
That is deeper than you think
Whose currents are slow but steady.

We are the stream
Whose waters, though colorless
Are enriched by bedrock minerals.

We are the stream
That is high in the spring
And low in a time of falling leaves.

But we flow on
Never frozen by winter
Whose icy fingers threaten
The lives of all streams

And time is good
For it evens out the course we take
As steadily as a stream.

Sometimes we need a friend to help us on the way. "Nonchalant Children"            Political correctness seems to have made everything relative.
